Wine Cork Poppin

Kyle taught us how to get a cork out of a wine bottle this past weekend...pretty sweet! Lucky for me, i always have empty wine bottles to do this trick with :)

Dirty Girl Run & A Bridal Shower

This weekend was a SUPER busy weekend, but a lot of fun! Pete has started football and i'm pretty sure i've seen him a total of 2 hours in the last 8 days! Going back home to hang out with family was a great time and kept me busy!
After work on Friday i drove home to my mom's house and we decided to go to the Jefferson/Lakeside football game which my cousins Jared & Michael played in for Lakeside.  Unfortunately, Lakeside lost by a touchdown, but it was so much fun to see them play! Made me feel old that they're in high school already!!

Saturday was the 5K Dirty Girl Mud Run ...it was a BLAST!! Myself, Aunt Jayne, Whitney, Tayler and Becky signed up to run in it. None of us knew what we were in for but were excited! Of course, the morning of, it was downpouring...making it EXTRA muddy for our run! These are close to the order we ran them in:
Obstacle 1 - Hay bale climb
Obstacle 2 - Tire High Step
Obstacle 3 - Hanging Tires
Obstacle 4 - Tunnel Crawl
Obstacle 5 - Mud Ditch and Climb
Obstacle 6 - Army Crawl
Obstacle 7 - Jail Break Fence Jump
Obstacle 8 -Mud Crawl
Obstacle 9 - Tire Weave
Obstacle 10 - Cargo Net Climb
Obstacle 11 - Mud Water Pit

We were completely soaked and muddy. HOWEVER...(sorry Becky) the funniest part of the whole thing was performed by my sister in law Becky. We were running about to do the Jail Break Fence Jump. The trails were SO muddy and uneven it was hard to get your footing so we tried to run on the sides of the trail. Becky apparently went too far over and ended up falling into a ditch. Not just any ditch, a ditch with a little creek running through it. She went down and i looked back and all i saw was her holding onto weeds trying not to fall into the creek. I went back to help and was laughing WAY too hard so i was sitting on my butt trying to pull her up. Whit and Tayler came back to try to help too, which took even longer due to the laughing.
All in all, great experience! Fun family bonding Saturday morning. We were promised a cosmo after we were finished but it ended up being a shot glass of it instead....tempting us to want more! That night when i went home to shower...the things that fell out of my sports bra, shorts and were stuck to my skin was disgusting, a shower had never felt so good in my life!
Saturday night Becky, Kyle and Nick came over to my mom's while Becky and I made cake pops for Erin's bridal shower the next day. A few bottles of wine into it, Becky and i had made 50 cake pops and put two per bag, one in white chocolate and one in chocolate and decorated them. Then we made little tags in the shape of a feather and put "Sweet  Beginnings" on the front and "Erin & Sean 9-17-11" on the back. They were really cute once we were done.

Sunday was Erin's shower. We had a great turn out for it! Lots of family showed up for it and enjoyed the food and shower games as well! Only one more month until the big day! Time flies!!

Also...Kyle taught all of us how you can get a wine cork out of an empty wine bottle Saturday night....

Practice # 3

Good afternoon. We had our 3rd practice yesterday and we finally were able to put on our shoulder pads and start to hit our guys! We were just in half pads but at least it showed us as coaches a different side of guys and how aggressive or non-aggressive they were. Along with camp comes injuries and we have our fair share of aches, pains, pulls, and strains. Some of these are returners and some of them are freshmen. Nonetheless, I always tell my guys that you are only 1 snap away from injury to be replaced or replacing somebody and that means that you better be ready! Now that we got the pads on, it is our time to evaluate our guys and see where they stand within the depth chart. At this point, it is vital that our young guys show us everything they have because some of them may be vying for a starting spot! The Muskies are in half pads again this afternoon and look to improve and keep progressing. Go Muskies!

Practice # 2

Good morning! Our second practice ended yesterday at 5:30pm with our first real football practice on the field. Offense and Defense broke up and concentrated a lot on fundamentals and technique. A lot of the coaches were eager to see how talented our Freshmen class is and some of them practiced really well and showcased their abilities while others still have a ways to go. This is somewhat typical for a young team, however, hopefully some of our young players can progress quickly and have the opportunity to see the playing field and fill the gaps in our open spots on both sides of the ball.
This afternoon, the Muskies will have practice # 3 starting at 2:30pm and be in helmets and shoulder pads. This practice will be really nice for us to evaluate our talent a little easier and see who is aggressive and who wants to go after those open spots. The first practice with pads on is always exciting for both the coaches as well as the players! Let's have a great day! Go Muskies!

Cake Pops

On Saturday I ran a 5K with Pete's cousin Andrea, then on Sunday, Pete started football. I thought a nice reward to running, and something time consuming to do while Pete is gone is to try to make cake pops. They're actually very easy to make and pretty fun!

These were my ingredients:
chocolate cake mix
chocolate frosting
candy sticks
styrofoam
Bakers chocolate squares (or white chocolate)
sprinkles

First i mixed the batter and poured it in a greased pan to bake for 30 minutes.

Once it came out of the oven, i crumbled the cake mix into tiny pieces
then i added half a can of frosting and made it into one large lump.
then all the little balls need to be formed and put on a tray and put in the refrigerator for 1 hour or longer to harden.
these were the sticks i bought to use for the cake pops.
then i bought styrofoam for the pops to dry on. i covered them with plastic wrap so i can use them over :)
after they hardened in the fridge, i stuck the sticks in 1/2 way.
i melted the chocolate and stuck them right in
i tapped off the extra chocolate so they didn't drip too bad.
then i put sprinkles on them!
I stuck them in the styrofoam to stand up and harden.
finished product!! :)

Practice #1

Good evening! After a full day of check in, the Muskies took the practice field for the first time to start the 2011 season. Tonight's practice was to see how well our players worked during the off-season and test them in the bench, squat, 40 yd. dash, pro shuttle, and to cap the night off; 16 - 110yd sprints. It was "country club weather" to say the least with the temperature reading 60 degrees at the finish of practice. The guys were thankful it was neither hot nor humid out for the second year in a row.
The team looked to be in decent shape and the Muskies have a lot of youth on the roster. Some key returners showed off their hard work as well as some incoming Freshmen. The Muskies will be looking for some of those key Freshmen to step in and fill some pivotal positions this year. All in all, day 1 is now in the books and the team should sleep well in the dorms tonight and get ready for practice 2 tomorrow at 2:30pm. Go Muskies!

College Football

Good afternoon to all you college football fans! The Muskies open up camp this Sunday, August 14th, 2011 at 1pm. To my lovely wife...I will miss you the next 2 weeks as I will be working long hours (6am-11pm) during training camp and getting our guys ready to win the NAC! Please don't enjoy your time away from me too much but I am sure Izzy will take good care of you! Please remember, Izzy likes taking a walk every morning and evening to say hi to all of her neighborhood friends who she so dearly loves!
The Muskies are looking pretty young this season but will have a lot of talent return as well at key positions. Saturday, August 20th we will be having our Inter squad scrimmage and Friday, August 26th the Muskies will be traveling down to Elmhurst, IL to take on Elmhurst College in a scrimmage. Please check back everyday for Muskie Training Camp updates! Have a great day and GO MUSKIES!

Our little puppy Izzy

I think it’s time I give a shout out to my dogJ
When Pete and I moved to Sheboygan I really wanted a dog, so he told me to start looking. I really wanted a puggle so I came across an Ad from Madison from a lady selling a puggle. She said the dog was up to date on shots, spayed and a Puggle for $100. She was working on getting the vet papers and would give them to me when I went to pick her up. 9-12-09...my mom and I headed to Madison while Pete was at an away football game. We met this lady in a parking lot and out hopped a little 13 pound dog and started jumping on me trying to give me kisses. I looked at the lady expecting a 25 pound dog but apparently this is what I was getting! I didn’t have the heart to say no so I picked up the dog and asked the lady for her vet papers which she responded....”I haven’t gotten a hold of the vet, I’ll mail them to you” OK, whatever, I paid her my $100 and went on my merry way. I renamed the dog right away. Her name was Baby (yep, worst pet name ever) so I renamed her to Izzy which is a perfect name for the little spit fire!

We stopped at all my aunts/uncles houses to show her off and she was such a good girl. I got her back to Sheboygan and all she wanted to do was follow me everywhere and lay on my lap. Pete got home that night, opened the door, saw Izzy sitting there and his first words were “What the hell is that thing?” I told him she was Izzy and she’s not going anywhere.

Two weeks after we had her...Pete came home and Izzy jumped on his leg and out dropped a drip of blood on his white sock....yep, Izzy was in heat which is funny since she was supposed to be spayed! We tried to contact the lady via phone, email etc. and she would NOT call us back. I finally left her a nice message letting her know what an awful human being she was for lying to us...so Pete went out and bought her doggy diapers, they even have a hole for a tail, so she wore those for a few weeks until we had a vet appointment made. We took Izzy in, got her all her shots, spayed, micro chipped, nails clipped etc. so almost $300 later, our dog was good. However, we couldn’t get her to stop peeing. Called the vet, she said to collect a urine sample and bring that in to check for a UTI...let me tell you. Nothing was funnier than watching my 6’4’’ husband walk a 13 pound dog with a tupperware container, trying to fit it under her as she squated down to pee...i was crying from laughing so hard. We took the sample in, and nope, no UTI, she just likes to pee. She was at 2 homes before us, each giving her up because they had to move...so she was never housebroken as a puppy.

Izzy is now almost 4 years old, housebroken and such a great dog. She gets made fun of for her big eyes and underbite but it gives her character! She’s definitely MY dog as she only listens to me....but Pete babies her big time. I see him tuck her in under her blanket before we leave to go anywhere (she loves to sleep UNDER covers) and I see him occassionally carrying her like a little baby. All in all, while some make fun of her for being "muskie bait" and saying they could "punt her", she does what she is supposed to do, loves us to bits and pieces, follows us everywhere, camps with us, travel with us, plays and snuggles on the couch with us!
Here are a few pictures of Izzy over the last few years!

She always sits with her paws crossed!

My mom found her a life jacket to wear in water since she can't swim...she'd rather drown than try to move her back paws!

she LOVES sitting on the boat and loves to go fishing!

This is her favorite spot to lay, the back of the couch.

Yep, that's a diaper on her when she was in heat...poor thing!

She came ice fishing with us but was freezing and sat wrapped up in a blanket.

She loves to go exploring with Gretchen in the backyard finding random things.

Keeping Grandpa company while he was sleeping up north

I yelled at her one day and she ran from me and hid under the bed, i was laughing too hard at her to yell anymore.

Pete walking her by the lakefront! How cute do they look together haha, don't worry, we'll get you a big dog some day Pete :)

This is how she travels, she sleeps on my lap in the car in a blanket.

we got her little booties to wear in the winter :) her ankles were too small for them to stay on though.

She's definitely my dog....she LOVED the whip cream she got at Starbucks!

She was a mounted moose for Halloween....if she could talk i'm sure she would have yelled at me for this!

She loves the Pack :)

Wonderful Weekend with Little ones!

Well, this is my very first post! I figured when i decide to start, it better be about something good! What better than enjoyable time spent with little ones??
Pete and I ended up having a fun filled weekend with some little ones.  Friday we babysat for 4 kids ages 3 - 12. While we thought we were in over our heads, it turns out we actually handled it pretty well, I also got to brush up on my Mario Brothers on Nintendo Wii while Pete ended up being the bottom of a big monkey pile.
Saturday, we had a house full of people to celebrate the wonderful Brat Days in Sheboygan....A.K.A. people watching days. We were so excited to hear that Dave and Karee were going to come up and bring the kids! A friend of ours has a bouncy house which ended up being a lifesaver. Not to mention, I July I bought  a kiddy pool, thinking our dog Izzy would take up swimming.....not so much since my dog would apparenlty rather drown than try to swim and save herself. Therefore, we used it for the kids this weekend and Pete brought out the sprinkler too. A few other friends brought their kids, Brady and Colton, and the kids had a BLAST! It was fun watching Haydn and Bennett go running through the sprinkler and then make a mad dash for the bouncy house.

While Dave and Karee took the kids to Brat Days for a bit, they left Hudson with us for a few hours to babysit. He is such a content little guy, I can only hope we're blessed with a baby as content as he is someday! Not only was he good for us, but Izzy loved him and was good with him too. She almost acted as a guard dog...Hudson was laying on the floor and Izzy laid by his side the whole time. She let Hudson grab her, pull her hair and take a few occassional wacks. Izzy looked up with me with her huge eyes a few times....and I picked her up, but the second i put her down, she ran right back to Hudson and laid back down next to him....it was too cute!

All in all, a great weekend hanging out with the little ones!
