Pete and I saw this football cocoon a few months before I we had him and Pete told me to buy it. Today we had a friend come over...from Brenda Kay Photography and had her take pics of Sawyer for his newborn photo shoot. This is the only one we had a sneak  peak of so far and LOVE it. Hes the worlds cutest baby :) turned out amazing :)

Gender Neutral Nursery

The weeks are winding down. Thankfully the bedroom is ready, well, 90% ready. Pete and I opted to not find out what we're having and have zero regrets about that. I think the only way we agreed we'd find out what we're having is if we end up having twins someday (which could happen!) or if we end up with two girls, or two boys and have a third. But we'll see when the time comes. Until then, not knowing is the best decision ever!
When we were trying to figure out what to do with the room, we were pretty undecided. Thanks to Pinterest, I saw some cute ideas...but due to my indecisiveness I couldn't quite decide on what to do. I saw those owl patterns/colors that seem to be pretty popular right now, with the blues, greens, oranges, browns...but i'm really not a "theme" person. I've never been one to want a theme room, like a Cinderella theme, or Dr. Suess or things like that. I do think they look SUPER cute but it's just not me or my style, so I'll just stare in awe at others who are able to pull it off and make it look adorable in their houses :)

I did some digging online at Gender Neutral rooms and didn't completely fall in love with anything but found bits and pieces here and there. We started with the furniture in the room and decided on Espresso brown. My dad bought us the crib which was the first piece of furniture in the room, then we bought a glider in espresso brown with ivory cushions. Then one of my brothers, Kyle, who is amazing at wood work/building, offered to make somethign for the bedroom. All that we needed was a dresser so he decided to make that, in espresso brown. turned out AMAZING. So we had all the furniture....one thing done.

Next i had no clue what to do for the walls. I found a saying online that i wanted to incorporate into the room. With the challenges Pete and I faced to have this baby, the saying was perfect:

"Before you were born,
we dreamed of you,
we imagined you,
we prayed for you.

Now that you are here,
we hope for you,
we love you,
we thank God for you."

I asked my aunt to print it for us and then i framed it. Next, i wanted something above the dresser/changing table...I decided to do the initials above the dresser in three frames. I bought three frames at Hobby Lobby. Then my  mom and I went to JoAnne Fabric one day and found this cute green/white polka dot fabric. We put that in the frames and after s/he is born, the initials will go in the frames. I found the perfect coral color for a girl and blue color for a boy. I decided on the coral color instead of just "pink" and nice blue color. i have the letters all cut out so while i'm in the hospital, my mom will put the initials in the frames :) The initials are completely hidden because nobody, not even my mom, knows the names yet! I'll have to tell her where they're hidden when the baby is born so she can put them in the frames for me :)

Finally, we needed somethign for above the crib. Pete's cousin is an art teacher and asked if she could make something for the baby's room. She's making the cutest thing ever. Three canvases in chocolate brown with a big white tree throughout them. Then, instead of leaves, she's putting circles around the branches. Greens/ivory for now and then whenever s/he is born, she'll put accents of coral or blue in it for the boy or girl!
Other misc. things in the room are the end table next to the glider that my mom got for us, perfect color and size. I found the lamp at Target obviously :) along with the brown baskets that hold the books/toys. Eventually i'm going to look for a cute rug to go by the crib, but that's after s/he is born. I will probably put a picture of the baby up on the wall to the left of the dresser after we get the newborn pictures taken. The curtains were made by a friend of the family. right now they're held up with a green "rope" but after the baby comes that will change to possibly coral or blue, to be determined right now! The rocking chair was actually Pete's when he was little! Cute huh? :)

So that's the room! Not difficult at all to do a gender neutral nursery...and that seems to be the #1 reason why people are like "you're not finding out?! How can you decorate??" ...Easily lol. It's funny, most people 30 or older say "good for you for not finding out, it makes the end so much better!" And our friends under 30 are like "OMG You aren't finding out?? Are you crazy?" Yes, we're crazy lol, crazy in love with our little boy or girl and can't wait for our surprise in the upcoming days!

Here's pictures of the room before it gets messy after s/he arrives! :)
