17 Weeks & Valentines Day

For Valentine's Day this year, i decided to surprise Pete. One of his players is a chef at a restaurant in Elkhart Lake, called "Elkhart Inn". We went there once and he served us and it was AMAZING! I secretly sent him an email and asked him to come and cook for us for V-day. I told Pete that we were going out to eat and that i had made reservations. When Deric arrived and rang the doorbell, i told Pete to answer it that it was his V-day surprise. He was very confused lol. When he opened the door and saw his football player standing there he asked him what the heck he was doing there. Then Deric said i'm your chef for the night! Pete was pretty excited. He made us brown butter basted fish, asparagus and asparagus risotto. It was delicious...and a nice v-day change up from normally going out to eat.

Other than that, low key V-day...but we took my 17 week picture! Baby is moving around more it seems which feels so cool!! less than 3 weeks until the 20 week appointment!

It's a turnip, not cute sounding but i'm sure s/he is :)

Baby Hahm is Growing!

Just had my 16 week appt! Baby Hahm is doing great, was beating at 147 bpm. I absolutely LOVE, LOVE, LOVE hearing that little heartbeat. It is such a miraculous sound. 20 week appt is scheduled for 3/6...can't wait to finally SEE him or her!

Memory Book for your Son or Daughter

I decided I needed to keep myself busy while pregnant otherwise time will just drag. Thanks to Pinterst and my love for scrapbooking (and my new cricut machine), I came up with this new idea. Come up with 20 questions and ask them to your child every year from age 3 - ??. I made a book for my friend at work whose son is turning 3 shortly. We decided to cut it off at age 14, but you can basically choose any age you want. It's something fun and cute that your children can look back on year after year to see what their answers were and how they've changed. The questions are purposely the same each year so you can see the changes.

On the left side of the page you put a picture of your son or daughter on his or her birthday and then on the right you fill in the questions. It was SO much fun to make, I want to make another :)

I've attached pictures of each year so you can see what I all did. Any takers? :)

Pregnancy Brain???

I'd like to blame what i did on Wednesday with having a lot on my mind lately, such as: baby, baby clothes, work, baby names, baby cribs, purple grapes (yummmmm), baby strollers etc. you get the point. However...Pete seems to think it has to do with my new "pregnancy brain" that apparently I have picked up.

After lunch as i was driving the short distance back to Kohler, i was thinking about the things i have to do that day, think of baby names, think about the grapes i'm going to eat later (yummm), think of baby room colors, get an OIL CHANGE, think of baby cribs i like, etc. somehow in the mix of thinking of all of that, i completely missed the exit to go back to Kohler to work, and ended up in Plymouth where i was supposed to get my oil changed 4 hours later. For those of you "back home" it's basically like driving on 94 from Ixonia, knowing you need to exit the Johnson Creek/Watertown exit, but instead, driving to Lake Mills and realizing you just drove WAY out of the way.

That's exactly what i did. However, i was able to come up with lots of baby ideas on the extra 20 min drive, so it was somewhat beneficial :)

The Hahm's Are Having a Baby!!!!

I suppose it's time that i finally am able to write that Pete and I are expecting a baby! It's been a LONG couple of months waiting to announce it to everyone, that's for sure!
November 13th, i took that test and it was positive! :)
Starting that Monday, I went in every other day for blood work testing. They checked my hormone levels to make sure that they were at least doubling every day. Each day they'd double, and some days they'd triple which was amazing to hear. After 1.5 weeks of doing that, my doctor said, OK, now we wait until you're 12 weeks along. Umm...sorry, not happening. I was not about to wait 6 weeks to find out if things were okay, so we switched doctors and my new doctor is amazing. He put me on progesterone pills right away. He said sometimes your body does not produce enough in early pregnancy which causes miscarriages. I had to take two pills per day until 12 weeks.
After he put me on the progesterone pills, he had me come in weekly for ultrasounds. Let me tell you....that very first ultrasound that was scheduled at 7 weeks had me feeling sick as i laid on that table waiting and hoping to see a little heart beat. I don't think i was breathing until i heard Dr. Heins said, there it is!! Week 7 the heartbeat was 90, Week 8 it was 126, week 9 it was 171, week 10 it was 176 and week 11 it was 156. He said the heart beat would increase until close to 12 weeks and then it would drop and stay between 120 - 160 normally until the baby was born. The first time we heard the heart beat was at week 9. I don't think Pete's smile could have been any bigger, it's the most amazing, and miraculous thing we've ever heard. I think we were both beaming every time we would leave an appointment.
After my 11 week appointment he said he didn't need to see me until i was 16 weeks, so my next appt is 2/7. I'm really excited to see/hear how the baby has grown!
I can't complain that i had "bad" morning sickness as i was only nauseous for 3-4 weeks, but it was ALL.DAY.LONG. a few times I would walk into the kitchen and start crying because nothing was appealing to me....that is, except for Clementine Oranges and Mac and Cheese. Poor Pete...i didn't cook much for those few weeks :) Luckily that phase has passed...I had lost 3-4 pounds in the first trimester, which the doctor said is very normal due to feeling nauseous.
Before Christmas, the nauseous feeling went away and I gained my appetite. I still havne't gained anything from my 11 week appointment, but i'm sure it's coming :) I have discovered meat doesn't appeal to me as much anymore. Pete and i went to a BBQ restaurant recently and i thought i was going to be sick in there lol.

On Christmas Eve we told Pete's family by having his dad announce it in the prayer at dinner. He said something like "Please bless the baby that Jen and Pete are expecting in July" I looked up and saw Sharon and Kaycee's jaws drop lol, after I chatted with those two letting them know how things have been going! On my side we always take a cousin group picture. The aunts and my mom always take the pics so i had my mom say "OK, everyone say "Jen and Pete are having a baby" and she snapped the picture which was pretty neat too since we got the reactions :)
There were a few select people that did know ahead of time that we were pregnant, like our parents and a few very close friends of ours. I'm forever grateful and thankful to them for keeping me sane and keeping me positive for those few months as we were both very scared/nervous for what was going to happen. Now that we've told all our family and friends, the support we've gained has been wonderful. The constant love we get via calls/texts/emails is a huge blessing and keeps us positive! You know who you are and we love you and are very thankful to have each of you in our lives!
I'm due on July 22 and we do not plan on finding out what we're having and are SO excited to keep it a surprise until the day Baby Hahm is born and the doctor says "It's a......." Can't wait!!
Below are a few pictures of before the bump started and a week ago when the bump appeared :)

Still Here!!

I just realized i haven't posted in awhile! Things have been very busy lately...and it's hard to imagine that Lakeland football is almost over for the year. I feel like August was just here and i was dreading being husband-less. It flew by though, as do most seasons. This Saturday is his last game already! The "Cheese Bowl" at Concordia-Wisconsin Mequon. I believe Lakeland has won this awful looking trophy the last three years. Yes, i called it awful because it's one of those huge trophies with the four legs topped by a yellow nurf football that is gross looking from the guys touching it year after year....but it's something worth playing for each time we play them....not to mention, the game before, Coach Doherty threw packs of string cheese at the Lakeland players to get them excited for the Cheese Bowl....only in Wisconsin (or Sheboygan)!!

This year Pete didn't have any overnight games which was weird but i'm not complaining! the season i actually hate the most is coming....Recruiting. Pete will be on the road starting next week until February. He covers Madison - Milwaukee area. Sometimes he stays over at my mom's or his parents to avoid the drive back and forth each night. I have to say...the nights he's gone...arent. that. bad. Sorry Pete if you're reading this! :) i do enjoy being able to watch my reality shows...Real Housewives of New Jersey, Jerseylicious, Kendra, Dancing with the Stars, Biggest Loser, Cake Boss, Real World, Jersey Shore, Giuliana and Bill, Big Rich Texas...i think that about covers them. Wow, looking back at that makes me feel pathetic. Or cool because i still can relate to what the hip High Schoolers watch, nope, makes me feel pathetic. I'll take being pathetic though because these shows are ADDICTING and so comical! If you've seen anything with the word Jersey in it...you'll understand why.

I think the one "normal show" pete and i watch together is Sons of Anarchy...i put "normal" in quotes because if you watch it...it's sadly normal that wives are getting beat, people are smuggling guns and drugs and killing people for it. However, it's a nice drama show to watch that we both love.

Other than the pathetic shows that i watch, football season ending...crying a few nights from the Wisconsin badgers losing to MSU and OSU, but then screaming in excitement the very next day for the 8-0 Packers the Hahm's are doing great! Getting ready to see family/friends for the holidays!! I miss them so, so much!! We haven't been home since August i think! Time flies when you're having fun :)

Izzy Turned 4...

Our little pup turned 4 years old on October 4th. Since we basically treat her like she's one of our kids...of course we got her a few birthday gifts. One gift was....winter boots (against Pete's wishes)!! that dog FREEZES in the winter when we try to walk her or if she runs outside. One time, her feet started bleeding they were so cold. I never thought i'd be that person, who buys her dog clothes, shoes etc. BUT....look at her!! She can't hunt so i might as well dress her up like a little girl! What dog wouldn't want boots with fur??

Here was the next part of her birthday gift...a HUGE DOG BONE. My dog is 13 pounds. She never gets any bones larger than her foot. We decided to give her a huge one and see how she liked it. At first, she thought it was a toy and wanted us to throw it for her. Then she finally realized she could eat it so she picked it up and ran into the other room and burried it under a blanket so we wouldn't take it away from her...we think she was thinking that she wasn't supposed to have it. Finally we shoved it in her mouth and told her it was a treat and she went to TOWN on that bone!
