He's definitely not easy to get to sit still for a picture anymore. It was a struggle this morning for sure but I managed to get a couple! :) one of course with his nose scrunched :) regardless, he's still the best baby in the world!! :)

Sawyer's 6 month Pictures
We had his 6 month pictures done the week of 1/21. They turn out SO CUTE! He was so good for his pictures and they were fun to take. Brenda and I both had some ideas that we bounced off of each other. I'm SO happy I went with the first year package. newborn pictures, 3 month, 6 month, 9 month and 1 year. They're so fun to look back at and see how much they're changing! They change SO FAST!
He's 6 1/2 months old now and learned the following things:
- on 2/1 got up on all fours and moved a knee forward. I almost passed out I couldn't believe it lol. Since then he isn't fully crawling, he will go in a circle and back up like nobody's business, but going forward is taking extra time. Fine by me! I don't want to see my little baby on the move yet. I want him to be a baby again :) j/k.
- he's learned there is an "up" as in he knows to look up and stare at the ceiling, trees, birds etc. I was talking to my friend nicole and told her that and she said, I guess I never realized you actually have to "learn" to do that lol...neither did I.
- He blows bubbles and makes the noise when blowing his lips.
- He might have outgrown his screaming when he gets put in a car seat phase, knock on wood!
- he is still extremely ticklish!!! Love hearing him laugh
- On 2/1 he started saying ba-ba, and i might have heard him say dada on my birthday but i haven't since so i'm acting like it didn't happen lol. i tried to get him to say mama all day...no such luck :)
- he's eating like a tank still..doesn't seem to be drinking AS much formula which is nice! he's learning to use a sippy cup slowly and doesn't depend on the bottle as often as he does breakfast, lunch and dinner!
- Pete and Sawyer still have a cute and wonderful bedtime routine. I'm so blessed to have a great husband that works all day, comes home and literally takes Sawyer from me and wont' let me take him the rest of the night! He misses him a lot and all he looks forward to is seeing him after work. Every night we eat together, then Pete and Sawyer play while I clean up (I get to play if I clean up fast enough :)) and around 6:45/7:00 Pete gets a bottle, goes upstairs, feeds him, reads to him and hums him a song to put him to bed. It's the cutest thing. I sometimes ask if I can do bedtime routine and he won't let me!! I'm a little jealous. A few nights Pete's been gone late working so I get to and I love it just as much.
- 2/1-2/4 Sawyer took a second trip up to Rochester to visit our friends the Buchmanns. We took the kids to the Children's museum. Luckily Sawyer was free becasue he slept through the entire thing. He also slept through his first Super Bowl. He was SOOO tired by 5:30 so Pete laid him in bed at 6pm and he slept straight through until 7am!! all that traveling wore him out!
- 2/8 was my birthday. I got breakfast in bed (with Sawyer and Pete), then we went to the coffee shop and my mom surprsied me with a cake and balloons. Of course we let Sawyer try a little bit of the cake...he looked at us like what in the world am I eating? it was about the size of a pea but he enjoyed it. It was fun to share a cake with him :)
That's about all that's been going on with the Hahms! Enjoy the Pictures!!

Where has the time gone??
Well, Sawyer is almost 6 months old. Already. Don't mind me while I shed a few tears. I honestly have no idea where the last 6 months have gone. They've flown by so fast it breaks my heart! It's definitely bittersweet though, every day is so exciting as Sawyer is developing his own personality and it shines through more and more! In addition to Sawyer growing like a weed, Pete and I have also moved. It's been a busy few months!
Pete's company had a job opening in Madison and asked if he'd be interested in relocating. Due to having a baby, we decided to go for it, this way we'd be closer to family and our friends back home. However, the move happened so fast, as in, a month, that we started looking for houses quickly and then decided not to rush it so we moved in with my Brother Kyle in Jefferson. While it stinks not being able to "settle in" quite yet, we're taking advantage of it and saving up extra money to put down for a downpayment on a house. we're hopin to save up more so that we can put more down and not have such a high mortgage payment. that will help as well with me being a stay at home mom. I LOVE staying home with Sawyer. No matter how i feel, he puts a big smile on my face every day.
Here's what he's up to and loving as of recently...
- STANDING, all he wants to do is stand. he can't stand on his own, but if you help him, he'll do it all day long.
- EATING, he eats every baby food imaginable. Peas, Beans, Apples, Bananas, Pears, Peaches, Sweet Potatoes, Squash and that may be everything. Eats it all like a champ!
- SLEEPING, he takes great naps (most of the time) normally gets up between 7/7:30am and naps by 9:30 for 1-2 hours. gets up, eats, plays and naps around 1:30/2pm for 1-2 hours. Lately, i think he's going through a growth spurt and he now takes a little catnap again around 5pm for half hour or so. then he's in bed by 8pm. Can't complain with him
- LAUGHING, the kid is ticklish and laughs like crazy!
- He is very alert and is constantly watching what we're doing and waht's going on around him. especially with the dogs. He LOVES Bela and Izzy and loves watching them play all day long
- Loves the bath! At the end we let him jump in the water and he splashes around.
- Not sure what he quite weighs but on 1/21 he has his 6 month appointment....we shall see :)
- He knows who is mom and who is dad. he reaches his hands up for us to pick him up and smiles at us when he sees us. No better feeling than that!
- Almost scooting fully around the place. He can go on his belly and scoot around in a circle which is pretty comical to watch. he knows to grab for things now and puts anything and everything in his mouth (no teeth yet!)
- Got his first cold the other day. He's been so snuggly since, poor little boy :(
That's about it. I'll try to keep up better with this but I don't really get on the computer much anymore! Sorry Aunt Marge :) I'll try to post more pictures for you!! :)
I'll write after his 6 month appointment! :)

Mmmm food!
Sawyer wasn't feeling well today. Cough, runny nose and slightly fussy. I tried feeding him and he wasn't eating as much as normal...so, I decided to do something to make him laugh and happy. I let him take his food and play with it and he had a blast! He was slapping it, moving it around on the high chair and laughing and smiling. At least it kept him busy for awhile!!

Christmas Pictures!!
My friend is a photographer, www.brendakayphotography.com and asked if she could use Sawyer as a test for some photo ideas she had. Of course I said yes! All the other pictures she's done of him have turned out amazing.
He was a little complicated though. He wasn't fussy, but now that he's mastered rolling from back to belly, he doesn't like to STAY on his back and if he does, he's constantly reaching for his feet as you'll see in the one picture. Also, when he's on his belly, he used to sit up on his arms and hold himself up...lately, he flops them to his side like he's trying to fly or swim lol so he doesn't stay propped up that well. He's just trying to move so much it's crazy. So when we took those pictures, i'd prop him on his arms and quick move my arms away so she could snap some pictures, so he was constantly looking at me :) Anyway, i think they turned out really cute!! And I know i'm biased, but still :)

Scare with Sawyer
It's been quite the week to say the least!
Tuesday started off like any other day, get up, feed Sawyer, shower, Pete takes him to the sitter, go to work. At about 10:15 our babysitter Barbie called me at work, which never happens. She was frantic and said I had to come right away, Sawyer was having problems breathing earlier and started turning blue. I hung up the phone and ran to my car faster than I've ever gone before. I was a nervous-wreck. Of course, nobody was going the speed limit either. I was stuck behind every slow moving vehicle at 10:15am on a Tuesday. I was laying on the horn and felt like Cruella DeVille driving down Taylor Drive, but I made it there in record time let me tell you!
I got there and Sawyer was pale as a ghost and not moving like normal. I called his pediatrician as I was loading him into his car seat and said we're coming in now, make an opening becuase someone needs to see him. I took Barbie with me and she explained what happened on the way in. Apparently he was hanging out and was fine, but then started coughing, and then he started having problems getting air...seemed like something was stuck in his throat. He was tryign to cough it out but loosing air and apparently started turning blue and his eyes started rolling back and finally he coughed up some mucous. Then he was breathing fine. I guess Barbie was very close to calling 911 until that suddenly came out. Makes me want to start sobbing thinking about it....
Anyway, the doctor came out in the waiting room right away and listened to his breathing and his chest was clear so they got a room for us and got us right in. She checked his chest and heard no obstruction in there which is great. Then she did an oxygen level test and his oxygen level was 100% and his heart rate was in the 140s. Everything came back great. Poor Barbie was in the corner crying and scared out of her mind at what she had witnessed earlier.
Since everything came back great, the Doctor told me I should just take him home the rest of the day and watch him CLOSELY. If it happens again, call 911 or come into the hospital ASAP, whatever is necessary to do. I took Barbie home and told her to try to calm her self and I'd keep her posted the rest of the day. the second I got home, I lost it. I was absolutely sobbing. Things could have been very bad, very, very bad and I don't even know what I'd do without that little boy. He, of course, was acting just fine. He learned that day how to roll from his back to his belly (which the doc said is really early!). He just kept rolling, as if he was telling me, 'Mom, I'm fine, Stop crying'. He snuggled with me too which was great. Pete got home and he took Sawyer right away, and I started crying again. We put the pack n play in our bedroom for the night so we could listen better to him while he slept. We put him down to bed around 8pm and I am pretty sure I checked him every 5 minutes until I went to bed at 10pm. After I laid him down at 8, I came out of the room and sat on Pete's lap and just started bawling.
I by no means ever want to see him looking like that ever again. It's unfortunatley an imagine I can't get out of my head. He's the most precious thing to Pete and I and we'd do absolutely anything for him.
Crazy thing was, after I dropped off Barbie, she told me she was praying and praying that Sawyer would be OK and cough whatever it was up, and he did. When I dropped her off, there was a huge bright light shining above her house from the clouds...which we both believe was God saying he was watching over our precious baby boy.
So we made it 3 1/2 months with no scares from Sawyer, and there was the first of many I'm sure. If I could keep him in a padded bubble for the rest of his life, I would :) I am also pretty sure I grew my first gray hair and aged 20 years in a matter of seconds when all of that happened.
I always heard moms saying how much they love their kids and I never understood it. I love my family, and Pete, but this love, for a baby is such a different kind of love and so much harder to explain until you actually have a baby and can understand it. He's definitely the biggest blessing that's ever come into our life. I told Pete, our two babies, we unfortunately never got a chance to meet, were watching over their brother Sawyer Tuesday morning!
He's been fine since though :) Maybe he just wanted a way to spend the day with his mom :) Mission accomplished little man!
